A new book from Kim Hargreaves – Touching Elegance

As autumn leaves fall….. Cross the threshold into a new season with an eclectic blend of chic sophistication and bohemian charm.
Warm tones of mulberry, chestnut and bitter chocolate sit beside a monochrome pallet of inky black and charcoal grey, drawing attention to the luscious yarns and sumptuous silhouettes.

Kim Hargreaves is one of our favourite designers here at Knitting in Newbury. Kim was a key performer in Rowan Yarns great success story for over twenty years. A multi-talented knitwear designer she managed the Rowan brand, creating hundreds of individual designs, selecting new yarn colours, master-minding the fashion stories for the magazines and styling the photographs that would inspire people to knit the garments with style. Kim now has her own on-line label with yarns, patterns and trimmings all available by mail order, neatly packaged!
Kim has recently launched her latest book Winter Blooms which has some simply gorgeous patterns in. The patterns are a collection of garments for any woman’s winter wardrobe. The finished garments are an eclectic mix of feminine charm and strong “individuality”. There are ruffled collars, beaded trims, lace and handmade silk ribbons, which create a stunning look.
A couple of our favourites are

Rebecca – a neat fitted jacket with curbed fronts, garter stitch trim & horn buttons, knitted in Rowan Big Wool.

Briar – a close fitting understated sweater and dress design knitted in Rowan Lima.
Happy Knitting.

It has been pretty dismal out there of late so let’s cheer ourselves up with some knitting.
The manager at Caffè Nero is interested in setting up a knitting/crocheting meet on a regular basis and therefore a wonderful chance to spread our knitting love
Hopefully we can sort a time to meet everyone’s needs and to offer a little extra opportunity for everyone to meet. I was thinking Wednesday evenings in addition to our Saturday meet. So, if you are absolutely crazed about knitting and want to meet up one evening let’s go along to Caffè Nero and knit.
All knitters /crocheters would receive double loyalty card stamps for coffees. And Emma, the manager, has also offered to keep the place open later than actual hours (until 8pm) if we wanted. She is trying to lure crafters in to her shop!
Any day and time is open to us, so let me know if anyone is interested and if so, what day and time is best! It could even be a Saturday. Any time is open.

Would you like to meet other like-minded people in the Newbury area (that’s Newbury, West Berkshire UK)? Then come along to Knitting In Newbury to knit, share hints and tips, have a cuppa and a chat about anything that comes to mind. We’d all love to meet more knitters. Bring your needles and your yarn. Everyone is welcome young and old. We meet on Saturday mornings from 10am onwards and Wednesday evenings at Caffè Nero from 5.30 pm onwards. See the “About Us” page for more details.
